    NC NOVA (the North Carolina New Organizational Vision Award) is the first program of its kind in the country. It was developed by a broad-based Partner Team that included providers, workers, consumers, state regulators and educators.

    NC NOVA rewards Home Care Agencies, Adult Care Homes and Nursing Facilities for meeting comprehensive, rigorous standards for their front-line caregivers.

  • The Health Care Personnel Registry
    Operates under state and federal laws for unlicensed health care workers and their employers. Our scope includes review and approval of Nurse Aide I education programs and of Nurse Aide I and Medication Aide testing programs. We maintain competency based registries for Nurse Aide I and Medication Aides.

    We investigate abuse, neglect, and other allegations against unlicensed health care workers and list allegations and substantiated findings on the Health Care Personnel Registry. Information from the registries is used by health care providers in their hiring process.

  • Nurse Aide Continuing Education Modules
    The North Carolina Division of Facility Services introduces seven continuing education modules for nurse aides, which are available for the first time on CD-ROM. The modules were designed primarily for the nursing assistant who has already completed a basic nurse aide course of instruction and is currently working in a skilled nursing facility.
